Mortgages switchers after more cash
Amongst the many reasons for remortgaging the most popular reason given to MortgageBroker.co.uk in a recent poll was to free up cash. Surprisingly over 35% of people spoken too were looking to realise the equity in their house for a wide variety of reasons from the obvious 'home improvements' to the less obvious 'vets bills'.

Other popular reason for switching mortgage was to get a cheaper deal as people drop out of fixed rates onto standard variable rates. Some people switched as they had changes in personal circumstances or because they were moving house. Worryingly 3% of people were switching because they had notched up arrears on their previous mortgage.
